   Fees

I always intend to have a clear understanding and agreement regarding our work together and to make available to you as much information as possible. This article regarding the factors contributing to the cost of counseling may be of interest to you.  Why does counseling cost what it does?

Effective January 1, 2009
In consideration of the challenges many are facing related to our economy, I have made a temporary reduction in the fees for my standard counseling services provided at the Asheville office. I hope this will help you be able to make use of counseling support during these difficult times. For details, see the bottom of the page. *(4)

Full payment for counseling services are due at the beginning of each appointment, unless other arrangements have been made prior to the appointment. Fees are charged in full for missed appointments that have not been cancelled at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled appointment time.

*(1) It is customary for an initial session to be longer (typically 70 -80 min.) than the regular sessions, because of the need to gather background information, conduct an evaluation or assessment, and discuss the documents and agreements related to the counseling relationship. Most insurance providers recognize this need and allow a higher reimbursement rate for the initial session.

*(2) This fee is only applied to services outside the reasonable and customary documentation and reporting associated with a counseling practice. Example: there would NOT be additional fees for normal correspondence with insurance companies or an initial collaboration with a clinician who has previously worked with the client. Example: additional fees would apply to preparing a treatment summary for a school application or collaboration with the counselor of another family member who is not a client of Geoffrey Bullock.

*(3) This applies to time spent on all legal issues related to the client, whether done at the request of the client or as required by legitimate legal authority.  This includes, but is not limited to, all communications, correspondence, depositions, testimony, and documentation related to legal proceedings.

*(4) The temporary reduction in fees applies to (specified) services provided at the Asheville office after January 1, 2009 and is not retroactive for services provided prior to that date. The reduced rates are available to all current and new clients. The temporary discount on rates will be offered until at least June 30, 2009; but may change at any time thereafter without prior notice. When the temporary reduction of rates is discontinued, the reduced rate schedule will remain in effect for all active clients (meeting twice monthly or more) for the duration of their continuous and uninterrupted service. (revised January 2010)
